Centro Judo Novara secured three gold medals, one silver, and eleven bronzes during the inaugural

Centro Judo Novara secured three gold medals, one silver, and eleven bronzes during the inaugural Trofeo Borghi delle Vie d’Acqua in Vercelli, held on Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11. The competition drew a total of 586 athletes across competitive and pre-competitive divisions, providing a benchmark for various clubs and young judoka.

Twenty-Two Athletes Take to the Vercelli Tatami

The Novara club deployed a squad of 22 athletes across the two-day tournament. Standout performances at the top of the podium came from Mattia Di Giorgio, Aurora Trevisan, and Alessia Vestali. Di Giorgio claimed first place in the Esordienti B 38 kg division following a disciplined campaign defined by tactical focus and composure. Trevisan and Vestali also secured gold medals in their respective categories.

Additional podium finishes bolstered the club’s delegation in Vercelli. Vincenzo Marino captured the silver medal. Meanwhile, thirteen teammates earned bronze: Gabriele Canale, Clara Donati, Rayan El Sakali, Francesco Robertini, Kristell Lo Giudice, Omar Majdoub, Sara Majdoub, Ambra Morelli, Leonardo Origgi, Silvia Origgi, Giovanni Pacelli, Michael Preka, and Ilenia Vestali.

Mixed Results Provide Crucial Assessment for Coaches

Beyond the medal count, the tournament served as an evaluation tool for the club’s various training groups. Flavio Vestali pointed to encouraging signs from the Next Generation group, which began its structured training cycle in September.

For the competitive group, the weekend delivered varied outcomes. While several athletes demonstrated clear technical growth, coaching staff identified specific areas requiring intensive work. Gloria Morelli and Mattia Moneta finished in fifth place. Federico Comito, Manuel Moneta, and Samuele Trevisan exited the tournament after two or three matches, providing foundational competition experience.

National Championship Qualifiers Await the Novara Squad

Centro Judo Novara faces an immediate return to competition. Five athletes from the club are scheduled to compete in the upcoming qualification rounds for the Italian Esordienti Championships and the Italian Absolute Championships, seeking qualification slots for the national finals.
