Hugo Cazaban and Raphaël Rubio enter the Arsenal P1000 Padel tournament as top seeds and clear favorites to capture their fifth title of the season, facing a strong draw that features nine players from the French top 100. The competition runs from October 16 through October 18, bringing high-level domestic padel to the venue.
Top Seeds Aim for Fifth Title Amid Deep Draw
Cazaban and Rubio arrive at the tournament holding the number one seed position (TS1) following a consistent run on the French circuit that includes four P1000 tournament victories this season. Their most recent title came in September at P1000 Padel & Compagnie in Castres, where they defeated Aaron Demontis and Nathan Perrot 6/3, 6/4 in the final. Rubio enters the event as the highest-ranked player in the tournament, carrying momentum from international play that included a notable run at a FIP Gold event alongside Sami Iznasni, where they pushed Sanyo Gutiérrez and Alex Chozas across a full set.
Experienced Challengers Look to Upset Favorites
The second-seeded pair of Morgan Mannarino and Nicolas Trancart represents the most immediate threat to the top-ranked favorites. Mannarino, a senior European champion in the over-40 division, reached the semifinals of a P2000 event alongside Norman Sánchez. Trancart brings deep domestic experience and previously claimed a P1000 title in Bourg-lès-Valence alongside Cazaban last June, giving the duo familiarity with high-pressure moments.
Behind them, Benjamin Grué and Thibaud Pech occupy the third seed position. Grué spent the tournament week training at Big Padel Academy alongside JT Peyrú, while Pech ranks 74th nationally. Mathieu Escale and Damián Lozano round out the top four seeds as the fourth-seeded pairing (TS4), slotting into a competitive upper tier of the draw.
Emerging Talents and Dark Horse Pairings
The lower half of the seeded field and unseeded participants present several dangerous early matchups. Théo Barthe and Thibault Verdier feature regularly in the closing rounds of regional P1000 events, while Alexis Boisselier and Valentin Lasserre offer established partnership chemistry. Youth representation comes via Slevin Pasanau and Alexandre Joulé, as well as Rémi Cuilhe and Florent Dulac.
Two additional pairings feature individual top-100 players paired together: Julien Fabas, ranked 83rd in France, teams up with Daniel Abad Orive, and Marc-Édouard Chavey partners with Pablo Cenac.
Tournament Schedule and Weekend Outlook
Matches begin on October 16 and conclude with the final rounds on October 18 at Arsenal Padel. While Cazaban and Rubio hold statistical advantages based on their four titles and established on-court automation, the presence of nine top-100 players guarantees a demanding test across the three-day schedule.
