Castellanos de Moriscos expands sports offer to 16 activities

Castellanos de Moriscos has launched its new sports season with 16 municipal activities and proposals designed for various age groups and physical profiles. The program, organized between the local town council and the firm DXT, aims to provide athletic, fitness, and wellness options locally so residents do not need to travel outside the municipality.

Expansion in Municipal Sports Participation and Infrastructure Growth

The updated athletic schedule features disciplines including athletics, judo, indoor five-a-side football, inline skating, yoga, karate, pilates, zumba, low-pressure hypopressive gymnastics, maintenance gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, functional training, basketball, padel, pickleball, jugger, and reiki. Several specific programs have recorded notable participant increases since the start of the season. Hypopressive gymnastics grew from eight to eleven registered participants, marking an increase of over 30 percent.

Functional training has drawn approximately 130 participants, maintaining its status as one of the municipality’s most popular offerings alongside the municipal gym, which averages 150 enrolled users and draws visitors from neighboring towns. Padel demand also rose significantly, enabling organizers to form four to five groups after failing to establish any groups during the first trimester of the previous year. Karate accounts for around 15 children, while inline skating maintains strong participation, particularly within advanced groups utilizing the local pump track facility.

Local Youth Win International Tournament of Cangas Del Narcea

Youth sports remain a cornerstone of the municipal offering, with indoor five-a-side football accounting for approximately 100 children. The program’s standing received a summer boost when local youth representatives secured victory at the International Tournament of Cangas del Narcea. The municipal sports offerings continue to balance foundational youth competition with adult fitness and wellness conditioning.
