Guerreros de Canca hold off Don Pedro in a tight finish
The Guerreros de Canca clinched their semifinal berth with an 84-81 victory over Don Pedro at the local multiuse pavilion. With just 19 seconds remaining on the clock, Aldem Diez sank a critical basket to break a crucial stretch, while teammate Jeremy Guzmán anchored the defensive end to preserve the narrow lead. Guzmán delivered a dominant performance under the boards, posting a double-double with 24 points, 23 rebounds, and 5 blocks.
Edward Ureña supported Canca’s frontcourt with 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 assists. Farly Núñez and Delvis Hernández each chipped in 10 points. Don Pedro placed five players in double figures—led by Ambel Fermín with 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Marlin Santana with 17 points—but Canca maintained the advantage through accurate free-throw shooting and offensive rebounding in the final quarter.
Club Centro unleashes twenty-one three-pointers against La Kakata
In the second matchup of the evening, Club Centro relied on a heavy perimeter attack to defeat La Kakata 111-103, securing the remaining spot in the next round. Centro converted 21 three-pointers throughout the contest, paced by Aldwin Martínez with 28 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists. Oliver José added 25 points—including 7 three-pointers—alongside 6 rebounds.
Luis Peña contributed 21 points and 8 rebounds for Centro, and José Jorge hit 7 shots from beyond the arc to finish with 22 points. La Kakata responded with 31 points and 10 rebounds from Mcgrady Rodríguez and 22 points from Alison Tavárez, but Centro’s bench depth ultimately sealed the outcome.
Canca, Bafedu and Don Pedro lead regular season
Following the conclusion of the regular season, Canca, Bafedu, and Don Pedro finished with identical 5-3 records totaling 13 points each. Centro took the fourth spot at 3-5 with 11 points, while La Kakata finished fifth at 2-6 with 10 points to miss the postseason. The municipal tournament features the disputed José Luis Quezada «Boché» Cup and carries a special dedication to Rafael Uribe, president of the Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal).
