Caitlin Clark delivered 27 points and 15 assists, helping the Indiana Fever defeat the Las Vegas Aces 99-89 to even their first-round WNBA playoff series at 1-1.
Fever Rout Defying Defending Champions In Game 2
The Indiana Fever faced elimination after a blowout loss in Game 1 against the defending champion Las Vegas Aces.
Back at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the team changed its approach entirely. Clark was far from alone in carrying the offense.
Meanwhile, Kelsey Mitchell contributed 26 points, going 3-for-4 from beyond the arc and 9-for-11 from the free-throw line as Indiana shot 52.1 percent from the field as a team.
During the regular season, the Fever ranked ninth in defensive rating at 110.3, while the Aces ranked fifth at 107.2.

Clark Battles Illness And Physical Pressure To Deliver
The intensity on the floor matched the stakes. That’s what we talked about as a team. Don’t be soft,
Clark said after the victory, noting that the team had felt too passive in the series opener. She gathered the group ahead of the game to insist they adopt a different mentality about themselves.
Behind the scenes, Clark’s performance carried an even heavier physical toll. As she revealed after the final buzzer, exhaustion caught up with her midway through the contest.
“To be honest, I threw up everything in my stomach at halftime. I was just out there so tired. It wasn’t because I didn’t feel good or anything. I just was that gassed.”

Indiana Defensive Pressure Disrupts Las Vegas Offense
For Las Vegas, the evening brought uncharacteristic turbulence. Chelsea Gray contributed 10 points and seven assists.
Coach Becky Hammon pointed directly to Indiana’s defensive pressure as the root of her team’s offensive disconnect. Them picking up, being disruptive, got us out of our flow a little bit,
Hammon said. At times, your offense has to help your defense. I thought defensively we were poor tonight, and the two are married together.
Hammon also expressed frustration with the officiating and physical play, noting that the matchup should not turn into the NFL.
The friction boiled over in the fourth quarter when Wilson received a technical foul after stepping into the spectator section and confronting a male fan who had appeared to heckle her near the baseline. Security escorted the individual out of Gainbridge Fieldhouse with Indiana leading 90-79.
Michelob Ultra Arena Hosts Decisive Game 3 On Thursday Night
The victory forces a decisive winner-take-all matchup. The series returns to Las Vegas, where the teams will meet for the sixth and final time in 2026. The Aces hold home-court advantage at Michelob Ultra Arena for the Thursday night showdown, relying on their championship pedigree under Hammon to respond.
Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. PT with a trip to the WNBA semifinals on the line.
