Beşiktaş Men’s Basketball Team fell 81-73 to Greek representative Olympiacos during the eighth week of the EuroLeague regular season, Sözcü reported. Playing at the Turkcell Basketball Development Center (Turkcell BGM), the home side mounted multiple comeback efforts but ultimately surrendered control in the final minutes, dropping their fifth loss in eight matches in Europe’s premier club competition.
Early Scoring Surges Set the Tone at Turkcell BGM
The match began with a flurry of activity as Beşiktaş opened the scoring through Nowell, quickly establishing a 6-0 lead before the first minute had even elapsed. Olympiacos responded swiftly, orchestrating a 15-0 scoring run that flipped the momentum entirely. By the fifth minute, the visiting squad carved out a 15-6 advantage. Beşiktaş slowly clawed their way back with backing from the home crowd, narrowing the gap to two points at 25-23 by the end of the opening quarter.
Defensive Struggles Allow Olympiacos to Pull Away
The defensive intensity escalated in the second period. Scottie Wilbekin struck from beyond the arc to level the score at 25-25, and the hosts edged ahead 28-27 at the 13-minute mark. However, Olympiacos tightened their execution down the stretch of the half, carrying a 42-36 lead into the locker room. Defensive lapses plagued Beşiktaş early in the third quarter, allowing the visiting team to stretch the margin to double digits at 50-39 by the 24th minute.

The home side finally reclaimed the lead at 68-66 in the 34th minute thanks to a basket from Nowell. Yet, consecutive unforced turnovers in the 35th minute disrupted their rhythm, allowing Olympiacos to regain control and close out an 81-73 victory.
