Bellaria athletes win gold, silver and team bronze at EuroSup 2026 in Melilla

Three young stand-up paddleboard athletes from Bellaria Igea Marina secured a total of medals at the EuroSup 2026 European Championships, held from October 3 to 6 in the waters of Melilla, a Spanish enclave in North Africa, according to reports from riminitoday.it. Giulio Lazzarini, Lisa Venturelli, and Enrico Mandoloni represented the Italian national SUP team during the continental competition, which formed part of the broader “Juegos del Agua” event schedule.

Giulio Lazzarini Leads Italian Medal Haul

Sixteen-year-old Giulio Lazzarini emerged as the most decorated competitor of the Italian delegation. Lazzarini secured the gold medal in the Sprint Junior category. He added two silver medals to his total by finishing second in the Technical Race Junior and the Long Distance Junior events, the latter covering a course of approximately 13 kilometers. Teammate Lisa Venturelli narrowly missed a podium finish in the Long Distance Senior race, securing fourth place. Meanwhile, Enrico Mandoloni placed fourth in the Sprint Senior competition and earned a silver medal as part of the team relay squad.

Team Bronze Secures Third Place Overall for Italy

The collective performances of Lazzarini, Venturelli, and Mandoloni propelled Italy to a bronze finish in the overall team point standings. Italy finished third overall at the continental level for 2026, trailing only Spain and France. The final team standings combined point totals from the Melilla competitions and earlier SUP surf events held in Cantabria, Spain. The continental success arrives as Bellaria Igea Marina celebrates its official designation as a European Town of Sport for 2028.
