Barakaldo CF appeal against Troncho and Trigueros suspensions rejected

Barakaldo CF’s appeal against the suspensions of Ángel Troncho and Pablo Trigueros was rejected by the Juez Único de Competición, leaving the club’s technical staff and players stunned by what they called “grave injustices” during a derby against Arenas.

The decision means both players will miss Saturday’s match against UD Ourense at 18:45 in O Couto. The club argued the red cards were based on “clear arbitral errors,” but the ruling upheld the sanctions.

Three Controversial Moments

The controversy erupted when a penalty was denied to Barakaldo’s Samu Calera. Coach Imanol de la Sota called the decision “clear”—“El penalti es clarísimo porque le agarra y bien,” he said.

The second issue arose when Troncho received a straight red card. De la Sota commented that “es la primera vez que veo una expulsión de un jugador que va a hacer un centro y con la inercia golpea al contrario y le sacan roja directa, nunca había visto una cosa igual.”

Trigueros was later shown a second yellow card after the referee considered that he simulated a penalty, having been a previous dispute.

Appeal Rejected

Barakaldo filed an appeal seeking to overturn the suspensions.

This marks the second time the club has had an appeal denied, following the expulsion of Xemi Fernández against Coria in the second jornada.

Impact on Upcoming Match

Without Troncho and Trigueros, De la Sota faces a match against UD Ourense.

Club Response

De la Sota addressed media after the match, expressing frustration with the refereeing decisions.

Next Match Details
