Baptiste Guillaume delays Bordeaux debut to rebuild physical condition

“I aspire to find the back of the net as quickly as possible,” Baptiste Guillaume said, outlining his goals after joining the club.

Baptiste Guillaume will wait before making his first appearance for FC Girondins de Bordeaux, choosing to focus entirely on rebuilding his physical condition after spending the summer without a structured training regimen, WebGirondins reported.

Physical Conditioning Takes Priority Over Return Date

The forward missed the team’s opening 2-0 victory against Aviron Bayonnais in Régional 1 as he works through a tailored physical preparation program. The former Le Mans striker emphasized that rushing back to competitive action would be counterproductive for both him and the squad managed by Arnaud Cormier.

“I hope to return as soon as possible,” Guillaume said during an appearance on WebGirondins’ Débrief à Chaud. “I need to work physically. I didn’t have an athletic preparation this summer, and a profile like mine, at my age, needs to work well to be at 100% and help the team as soon as possible.”

Coordination with Technical Staff

Rather than circling a specific fixture on the calendar, Guillaume intends to coordinate closely with the technical and medical staff in Bordeaux before taking the pitch. No target date has been set for his debut.

Offensive Ambitions and Squad Integration

While watching the opening win against Bayonnais from the sidelines, Guillaume noted the proactive approach shown by his new teammates in the attacking third during the early stages of the match. He believes his skill set will add a vital presence inside the penalty area once he is fully fit.

“We put a lot of pressure at the start of the match against Bayonne with numerous crosses,” Guillaume said. “Sometimes we lacked a bit of presence or the final touch. That’s my role, and I can’t wait to help the team.”

Veteran Experience for a Demanding Campaign

Beyond his individual goalscoring ambitions, the forward stressed the importance of a winning start for a dressing room navigating a long and demanding championship campaign. He views his primary contribution as bringing much-needed veteran presence to the squad’s ongoing sporting reconstruction.

“The goal is to play as many matches as possible and not spare myself, so we can live a great adventure all together,” Guillaume said. “I came to Bordeaux to bring my experience.”
