Construction work on the new Esporte Clube Bahia training center, known as the City Football Academy (CFA) Bahia, has entered the earthmoving phase along the Via Metropolitana (BA-535). With vegetation clearing now complete, work crews began preparing the terrain in July and expanded operations the following month.
Site Activity Peaks in January 2027
Project schedules indicate that construction intensity will increase progressively toward January 2027, when site activity reaches its peak. Earthmoving operations are scheduled for completion in February. Currently, about 100 workers operate on-site alongside a fleet of more than 80 machines and pieces of heavy equipment. Project estimates place the total volume of soil movement required for the site preparation at more than 1.5 million cubic meters.
Nursery Protects Native Atlantic Forest Species
Project planners secured several authorizations up to a year ahead of schedule. The construction must comply with more than 40 environmental conditions spanning pre-construction, active execution, and post-construction phases.
To preserve native flora, an on-site nursery capable of producing up to 100 thousand seedlings was established. Specialists collected native specimens before clearing began to protect the local biome’s genetic characteristics. The nursery currently holds approximately 40 thousand seedlings across roughly 80 Atlantic Forest species. Workers will use these plants for landscaping the training facility and for restoring Permanent Preservation Areas surrounding both the training center and an associated residential development.
Teams Safeguard Wildlife and Meet with Residents
Biologists and veterinarians monitor the active construction zones to safeguard local wildlife. Animal rescue teams remove fauna from high-risk work areas and relocate them to preserved zones within the property boundaries to minimize environmental disruption.
Alongside environmental safeguards, project organizers host monthly meetings with residents from the nearby Areias community. These gatherings maintain an open dialogue, allowing local populations to track construction milestones, review project phases, and discuss the facility’s ongoing development.
