Badminton plérinais confirmed Claire Burban and Laurent Malghem as co-presidents during its annual general meeting, maintaining an unchanged executive board as the club enters the new season with approximately 100 registered members.
Leadership Remains Intact as Player Numbers Shift
The leadership team remains intact following the club’s assembly in Plérin. Alongside Burban and Malghem at the head of the association, Mathieu Lévêque and Rachel Bizeul continue in their roles managing the treasury, while Arnaud Le Jallé maintains his position as secretary.
The association begins the competitive campaign with around 100 licensed players. That figure contrasts with the 163 members recorded at the conclusion of the previous season, a total that included half-licences issued to players from external clubs who utilize the gym facilities for training. Club leadership noted that ongoing recruitment remains open through trial sessions held during regular practices at the Gymnase Lequier.
Club Seeks Stability Across Five Championship Teams
On the competitive side, the club has entered five distinct teams into the championships. The leadership outlined primary sporting objectives during the assembly, setting survival and stability as the core target across multiple divisions.
The club aims to retain its status for teams competing in the R2, R3, D1, and D3 divisions. While a D4 squad was left unregistered due to a shortage of female competitors, organizers established a new D5 team. This setup pairs two veteran club members alongside younger players and regular leisure participants to introduce them to structured tournament play.
Upcoming Seasonal Events and Neon Tournaments
Badminton plérinais scheduled several special events for the winter and spring calendar. A youth tournament is set for December 13, followed by an internal Christmas tournament on December 18. That holiday gathering features a distinct format played entirely in the dark under violet lighting, utilizing fluorescent apparel, court lines, and equipment.
On January 8, the club introduces a new afterwork tournament format contested in semi-darkness using a rapid-play structure. Looking further ahead into early 2027, the organization confirmed it will bring back its Catherine-Hamet and Océane tournaments across February and March.
