Andes secured four subregional titles to finish as the most successful delegation at the 49th Suroeste subregional of the 2026 Antioquia Departmental Sports Games, according to official reports from Indeportes Antioquia. The five-day multi-sport zonal event wrapped up in Támesis, bringing together more than 1,200 athletes across 20 municipal delegations to compete in nine distinct disciplines.
Andes Claims Four Titles to Lead the Southwest Zonal
The municipal delegation of Andes established its supremacy across the subregional schedule by capturing four first-place finishes. Indeportes Antioquia confirmed that Andes claimed gold and qualification in women’s soccer, women’s salon football, women’s roller skating, and men’s volleyball. The men’s volleyball squad sealed their championship campaign by defeating host Támesis 3-0 at the municipal coliseum, posting set scores of 30-28, 25-19, and 25-20.
Jardín followed closely behind in the final delegation standings with three subregional titles. According to the tournament results, Jardín triumphed in men’s chess, women’s basketball, and women’s volleyball—securing the latter crown through a hard-fought 3-2 comeback victory over Támesis after dropping the first two sets 22-25 and 18-25 before responding 25-16, 25-18, and 15-13.
Fredonia and Other Municipalities Capture Multiple Titles
A second tier of municipalities established a strong presence by capturing two titles apiece. Fredonia dominated the athletics events by finishing as the most winner delegation in both the men’s and women’s track and field brackets. Jericó claimed victories in women’s chess and women’s table tennis, while Ciudad Bolívar secured top honors in men’s salon football and men’s roller skating.
Rounding out the gold medalists with single titles were Amagá in men’s soccer, Betania in men’s futsal, Pueblorrico in men’s basketball, Urrao in women’s futsal, and Venecia in men’s table tennis. Out of the 20 participating delegations, Caramanta, Hispania, and La Pintada were the only three municipalities in the subregion that did not send representative squads to the competition.
Decisive Team Finals in Támesis
The closing schedule in Támesis featured tense medal matches across team sports. In women’s basketball, Jardín routed Salgar 62-28, while Pueblorrico captured the men’s division by defeating Jardín 57-44. Amagá claimed the men’s soccer championship with a 3-0 shutout against Támesis, adding to Andes’ earlier Friday victory in the women’s soccer bracket.
Salon football delivered high drama when Andes edged Betulia 4-3 in the women’s final. The men’s salon football final ended in a 3-3 deadlock between Andes and Ciudad Bolívar before Ciudad Bolívar prevailed 3-1 in a penalty shootout. In futsal, Urrao blanked Fredonia 1-0 on the women’s side, and Betania topped Urrao 4-2 in the men’s gold-medal match.
Road to the Departmental Finals in Rionegro and Envigado
Because the subregional serve as an official zonal qualifier, every delegation that captured a first-place subregional title secured direct qualification for the departmental finals. Indeportes Antioquia announced that the ultimate statewide championship phase will take place from November 30 to December 11 across the host venues of Rionegro and Envigado.
Organizers expressed gratitude to the municipal administration of Támesis, the rural district of Palermo, and the local community for hosting the visiting athletes, coaches, and officials. Operational oversight for the games was directed by the Association of Sports Entities of the Southwest (Asdesa), with financial backing from the Factory of Liquors and Alcoholic Beverages of Antioquia and HidraTAO.
