Amazon has greenlit the young adult tennis drama Rally, attaching former world number one Andre Agassi as an executive producer, dramanavi.net reported. The project focuses on the intense psychological pressure of elite youth tennis and the personal sacrifices required to survive in the sport.
Andre Agassi and Industry Veterans Shape the Project
First reported in September 2025, Rally centers on ambitious young athletes navigating what is frequently described as the world’s most solitary sport. The narrative explores how rising competitors must often sacrifice vital personal relationships to justify the pursuit of victory. Entertainment 360’s Gaymon Cassidy conceived the original idea for the series. Cassidy, a lifelong tennis fan, drew inspiration from observing the internal environment of Florida’s renowned IMG Academy after his son enrolled there. Cassidy previously worked on the Apple TV golf comedy series Stick.

Agassi joins the production as a first-time producer alongside business partner Justin Gimelstob, a two-time major mixed doubles champion who previously executive-produced the upcoming Apple TV documentary Open about Agassi’s life. Agassi achieved a career Golden Slam by winning all four major singles titles and an Olympic gold medal, and he spent his own teenage years training at IMG Academy. That historical Florida facility has also served as a training ground for prominent players such as Kei Nishikori, Boris Becker, Martina Hingis, Pete Sampras, and Maria Sharapova.
Production Team and Creative Direction
Universal Television, Entertainment 360, and Amazon MGM Studios handle the physical production.

Peter Friedlander, head of global television at Amazon MGM Studios, praised Plec’s ability to build absorbing worlds and compelling characters. “Rally invites viewers into the pressurized world of elite tennis, where every match point carries the weight of dreams and relationships,” Friedlander said.
Agassi emphasized a commitment to authenticity in depicting the sport. “Justin and I look forward to supporting a wonderful team using our past experiences,” Agassi stated. “We are all united by the goal of portraying this compelling yet complex sport in a way that is entertaining and, above all, real.”
Production Timeline and Network Plans
Following the initial development reports in September 2025, Amazon MGM Studios advanced the concept from early planning to an official series order. Universal Television and Entertainment 360 are collaborating closely on the rollout, though Amazon has not yet announced a formal premiere date or casting details for Rally on Prime Video.
