French eventing rider Alexis Goury is targeting a debut at the Badminton Horse Trials in 2027 with his top partner, Je’Vall, following a standout tenth-place finish at the World Championships in Aachen, grandprix.info reported.
Goury Finishes Tenth as French Team Misses Olympic Qualification
Competing at his first World Championships in Aachen, Germany, Goury delivered a strong individual performance to finish tenth aboard Je’Vall. While the milestone marked a personal career high, the French squad faced disappointment in the team standings. France finished without a medal or an Olympic qualification following the elimination of teammate Benjamin Massié and the retirement of Nicolas Touzaint. Goury drew an overall positive balance from the season despite the team disappointment, noting that the French team horses behaved very well and describing the venue in Aachen as exceptional.
“Assumer sa place dans une équipe représente forcément une responsabilité importante,” Goury told grandprix.info, reflecting on his role as the pathfinder for the French team after early trouble struck. “Avec l’élimination de notre premier couple, j’ai dû ouvrir la voie pour l’équipe dans la suite du championnat.” He added that after the championship ends, one measures the accomplished work and path traveled, noting that relief comes once the pressure drops.

Stepping Up to Badminton in 2027
Building on their Aachen success, Goury is plotting a major step up for Je’Vall in the 2027 season. Goury noted that Je’Vall has matured into a reliable top-level horse that handles demanding phases with growing ease, pointing to a marked improvement in the dressage phase due to increased mutual trust. He also noted that several young horses are progressing toward the high level, and detailed his perspectives and the organization supporting his ambitions during an appearance at the CCI in Lignières.
Managing a Rising String of Horses
Beyond his stable star, Goury assessed the development of the other mounts in his string. Colorée de Poteau Z experienced an uneven season following rapid progress, but the ten-year-old remains a key component of Goury’s top-tier lineup. Meanwhile, Hatchi des Loges successfully stepped up to the 4* level this year. Goury praised the horse’s potential while noting that his large stride and slower jumping style require ongoing development. Plans to cap Hatchi’s season at the Duisenberg Boekelo Military in the Netherlands were sidelined due to a minor setback. Commenting on the possibility of a championship appearance for Hatchi in 2027, Goury stated, Si Hatchi est qualifié et prêt à courir un championnat en 2027, pourquoi pas !
