Alexis De Sart signs one-year contract with RAEC Mons, club announces

Free agent midfielder Alexis De Sart has signed a one-year contract with Belgian First Division Amateur club RAEC Mons, featuring an option for an additional season, according to regional sports reporting. The 29-year-old Waremmien joins the Dragons to help stabilize a depleted midfield following long-term injuries to key squad members Antoine De Bodt and Bastien Yondjouen.

Midfield Reinforcements for RAEC Mons

RAEC Mons moved quickly in the market for unattached players after injuries hit the team’s spine early in the season. Alexis De Sart arrived at the club this week, filling an urgent need for experience in the middle of the pitch. His brother, Julien De Sart, remains active in Qatar, while Alexis had been searching for a new club since his contract with RFC Liège expired in June.

The club announced the acquisition through its official channels, pointing to the player’s background as an immediate asset for manager George Boateng. “The club wished to reinforce its squad with a player capable of immediately bringing his experience and qualities,” the club stated in its official announcement. “A hard-working box-to-box midfielder, Alexis is just as comfortable winning back possession as he is distributing it.”

Experience in the Belgian Leagues

De Sart brings substantial top-flight experience to the Stade Charles Tondreau. The former Belgium youth international, who earned 13 caps with the under-21 team, has logged more than 150 appearances in the Belgian Pro League (D1A). His résumé also features a Belgian Cup title won with Royal Antwerp FC and a promotion campaign with RWDM.

Last season, De Sart featured as a regular starter under manager Gaëtan Englebert at RFC Liège. His arrival gives Boateng tactical flexibility following the weekend derby win over Flenu, where an emergency partnership of Allan Tshimanga and former Anderlecht youth player Lars Montegnies anchored the defense.
