Spezia Calcio and Kappa have unveiled a commemorative 120th-anniversary shirt that the Aquile will wear on Saturday, October 10, against Gubbio, marking the exact date in 1906 when Spezia Football Club was founded.
Described by the club in official announcements as a return to its roots, the jersey breaks away from modern templates to honor the visual identity of its earliest years.
Quartered Design Revives Early Club Colors
The shirt features a four-quarter design splitting white—the club’s enduring identity—and sugar paper blue.
This shade recalls the celestial kits worn before the team officially adopted its traditional colors. Historical records indicate that the black-and-white scheme arrived later, in 1911, adopted in honor of Pro Vercelli.

Designs Draw from Early English Football Styles
The aesthetic choices draw directly from late 19th- and early 20th-century football designs.
Club histories note that founder Herman Hurni brought an initial set of Crystal Palace jerseys from England, matching a period up to 1905 when the English club wore white and light blue. Over the heart sits the vintage “SFC” (Spezia Football Club) logo alongside the 1944 Scudetto, which honors the legendary achievement of the Vigili del Fuoco della Spezia.
Collar Details Honor Paolo Ponzo
Additional historical touches include a coreana-style collar with traditional lacing and the embroidered phrase “SPEZIA 120 ANNI” across the back.
Inside the collar, a tribute honors Paolo Ponzo, featuring a quote from his words captured in the book Santa Domenica by Armando Napoletano: Ogni calciatore che veste questa maglia deve sentirsi da una parte onorato, dall’altra fortemente responsabile per ciò che rappresenta.
Modern Tech Meets Sponsor-Free Tradition
Produced on the KOMBAT™ 2026 template using recycled fabric with Hydro-Way Protection technology in a regular fit, the jersey was manufactured in a strictly limited run of 700 unique pieces.
In a nod to historical tradition, Spezia Calcio arranged with shirt partners Segnoverde, Dani Shipping, and Iozzelli to omit all commercial logos from the commemorative kit.
Shirts Debut During 120th Anniversary Celebrations
The limited-edition shirts went on sale immediately following the launch through the official Spezia Store and online portal.
The team will debut the strip on October 10 at the Picco during celebrations commemorating the club’s 120th year.
