Greg Easton has outlined a sweeping administrative overhaul, financial partnerships, and constitutional reforms during his first year as World Archery president. Elected in September 2025 at the World Archery Congress in Gwangju, Korea, Easton succeeded longtime leader Prof. Dr. Ugur Erdener, who had guided the international federation for twenty years. As only the second American to lead the organization, Easton took the helm with a guiding principle of collaboration and preparation heading toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Restructuring Leadership and Operations at World Archery
The opening twelve months of Easton’s tenure brought immediate structural changes to the federation’s headquarters. In October, World Archery parted ways with long-serving secretary general Tom Dielen. Rather than filling the vacancy with a direct replacement, leadership split the role to distribute responsibilities across a new executive framework.
Juan Carlos Holgado stepped into the newly created position of executive director, while Raul Calin assumed the duties of secretary general. Alongside the executive split, World Archery established a dedicated “Development and Education” department and revamped the leadership team at the World Archery Excellence Centre.
Securing Funding and Commercial Partnerships
Alongside internal restructuring, Easton’s first year secured vital financial support for global membership associations. World Archery successfully prolonged its commercial partnership with Hyundai, maintaining a high-profile title sponsor for major international events.
The federation also finalized a two-million-dollar agreement with the Easton Foundation. The funding package is specifically earmarked to support member organizations worldwide, bolstering grassroots programs and competitive pathways ahead of the 2028 Olympic cycle.
Drafting a New Constitution for Global Governance
Governance reform remains a cornerstone of Easton’s first-year agenda. A comprehensive review of the organization’s Constitution is currently underway, designed to modernize federation rules and streamline administrative processes.
Federation members will receive access to the draft document in the near future, allowing national associations to submit formal contributions and feedback before final ratification.
Preparing for the 2028 Los Angeles Games and Future Innovation
With the initial phase of reconstruction concluded, Easton has shifted the federation’s focus toward practical execution. The upcoming year is slated to transform institutional changes into tangible benefits for athletes and national federations competing worldwide.
