Spain’s national football teams hold eight active international crowns across men’s, women’s, senior, and youth competitions, establishing a broad international footprint. The milestone follows the under-20 women’s team victory in a penalty shootout against North Korea, recapturing a title last won in 2022.

Global and European Success in Women’s Football

The under-20 women’s squad secured their latest trophy following a penalty shootout win against North Korea, building on a European campaign that concluded on July 10 in Sarajevo. In that tournament, Spain defeated Germany to claim their fifth European crown, marking their seventh title in eight editions and eighth overall, which places them at the top of the tournament’s historical standings.

This youth success mirrors the senior team’s trajectory since winning the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia. Under subsequent coaching changes, the senior side added two UEFA Women’s Nations League trophies in 2024 and 2025—the latter under Sonia Bermúdez—and finished as runners-up at the 2025 UEFA European Women’s Championship under Montse Tomé after a penalty shootout against England.

The senior team’s core features Barcelona midfielders Alexia Putellas and Aitana Bonmatí, recipients of the last five Ballon d’Or awards. At the same time, youth pathways continue to integrate prospects such as Vicky López and Clara Serrajordi.

Triumphs in Men’s Senior and Youth Competitions

On the men’s side, the senior national team holds both global and continental titles following victory against Argentina in a July 19 final in New York, alongside their UEFA Euro 2024 win against England in Berlin, which marked their fourth European championship.

The under-19 team also claimed the European Championship title in Wales between June and July, winning all five matches with 19 goals scored and none conceded under Paco Gallardo. Meanwhile, the under-21 team prepares for upcoming qualification fixtures for the continental tournament, seeking to recover the crown they last won in 2019.
