Preliminary League Structure and Match Formats

Competitions across the preliminary phase are organized into blocks accommodating either four or five teams. For five-team brackets, match order sequences start at 9:00 a.m. with team 1 facing team 5, followed by team 2 against team 4 at 10:30 a.m., team 3 against team 1 at 12:00 p.m., team 5 against team 2 at 1:30 p.m., and team 4 against team 3 concluding the block day at 3:00 p.m. Four-team groupings follow an adjusted sequence, opening at 9:00 a.m. with team 5 playing team 4, proceeding through subsequent pairings at 10:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 1:30 p.m., and wrapping up at 3:00 p.m.

Boys Division Preliminary Groupings

The boys’ tournament features blocks spanning multiple letters with distinct school lineups. Block A features Sapporo Kokusai Information, Tokai Sapporo, Sapporo Kosei, and Sapporo Yamanote, with matches slated across late October dates including October 24 and October 25. Block B groups Hokusei Univ. Appendix, Hokkai, Sapporo Kogyo, and Eniwa Minami, with competition scheduled for October 10 and October 11. Block C includes Sapporo Sanei, Ritsukokan Keisho, Sapporo Sosei, Sapporo Ryukoku, and Municipal Sapporo Shinkawa.

Additional boys’ blocks encompass competitive fields distributed throughout the Sapporo area. Block D features Hokusei, Sapporo Shinyo, Sapporo Minami, Kitahiroshima Nishi, and Sapporo Seishu. Block E pairs Ishikari Shoyo, Eniwa Kita, Oasa, Sapporo Higashi, and Municipal Sapporo Hiragishi. Block F includes Sapporo Hiraoka, Ebetsu, Municipal Sapporo Mowai, Sapporo Daiichi, and Sapporo Nishi, with matches mapped for late October.

Further down the boys' preliminary slate, Block G features Ishikari Minami, Kagakudai High, Sapporo Hokuryo, Municipal Sapporo Keihoku Commercial, and Municipal Sapporo Asahigaoka. Block H lists Sapporo Kita, Towanomori Sanai, Chitose Hokuyo paired with Bunkyo Univ. Block I covers Gakuen Sapporo, Sapporo Seiryo, Sapporo Atsubetsu, and Sapporo Eiran. Block J comprises Municipal Sapporo Kiyota, Sapporo Tsukisamu, Sapporo Inuun, and Sapporo Kotoni Technical High School. Block K features Sapporo Oodama, Kitahiroshima, Sapporo Teine, and Sapporo Keisei, while Block L brings together Sapporo Hokuto, Sapporo Shiraishi, Municipal Sapporo Kaisei Secondary School, and Chitose.

Girls Division Preliminary Groupings

The girls’ tournament opens parallel round-robin matches across separate divisional blocks. Block A matches Sapporo Higashi Commercial, Sapporo Yamanote, Koka Hokkaido, and Towanomori on November 7 and November 8. Block B features Sapporo Hokuto, Sapporo Ryukoku, Municipal Sapporo Kiyota, and Sapporo Tsukisamu. Block C groups Hokusei Girls, Sapporo Teine, Sapporo Kokusai Information, Hokkai, and Sapporo Eiran.

Block D organizes Tokai Sapporo, Bunkyo Univ. Appendix, Sapporo Kita, Municipal Sapporo Asahigaoka, and Chitose, with action set for early November. Block E pairs Sapporo Keisei, Sapporo Otani, Sapporo Higashi, Sapporo Daiichi, and Eniwa Minami. Block F features Sapporo Seishu, Kitahiroshima, Gakuen Sapporo, Sapporo Inuun, and Municipal Sapporo Hiragishi. Block H includes Ishikari Shoyo, Ishikari Minami, Sapporo Sanei, Hokusei Appendix, and Sapporo Hokuryo. Tournament Schedule and Operational Guidelines

Match timings and bracket progressions follow strict regional guidelines established for the rookie competition. While standard block schedules adhere to established hourly intervals from 9:00 a.m. onward, blocks with extended tournament durations spanning three or more days adjust their match orders accordingly. Teams enter these preliminary matches aiming to secure advancement berths into the subsequent knockout rounds of the Sapporo district postseason.
