Rosario Honors Local Athletes for Their Success at the Santa Fe 2026 South American Games

Mayor Javkin Highlights Family Support and Community Network

During the municipal tribute on Monday, September 28, Mayor Pablo Javkin addressed the athletes, their families, and local sports leaders. He emphasized that the primary focus of the celebration belonged to the competitors and the support systems behind them. Javkin noted that families provide essential emotional and material backing, particularly when competition results fall short of expectations.

The ceremony acknowledged not just the competitors, but also the broader athletic infrastructure of Rosario, including trainers, local clubs, sports associations, and federations. Javkin stated that the city’s ability to host and compete at a high level stems from these deep-rooted community networks that help young athletes overcome obstacles to reach elite performance levels.

Medal Count and Multi-Sport Success in Rosario

Out of the 46 Rosario athletes who competed as part of Argentina’s national delegations, 34 secured a total of 46 medals. The final count included 5 gold medals, 24 silver medals, and 17 bronze medals. These podium finishes spanned 16 distinct disciplines, illustrating the depth of local athletic talent.

The city’s medal-winning sports included athletics, water skiing, football, artistic gymnastics, judo, artistic roller skating, speed skating, water polo, rowing, rugby sevens, squash, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), taekwondo, tennis, archery, and volleyball. Among the standout gold medalists and champions recognized during the event were Tobías Giorgis, Santino Basaldella, Pedro De Haro, and Luisina Giovannini, alongside multiple other individual and team medalists.

Infrastructure Legacy and Future International Events

Looking ahead at the long-term impact of the Santa Fe 2026 Games, municipal authorities emphasized both the intangible pride and the tangible infrastructure gains for the region. Javkin stated that the upgraded venues have already generated an increase in inquiries and formal requests to host future sporting events in Rosario.
