The Réveil Laïque Pontivyen Badminton team has launched its new competitive campaign in Division 1 of the Morbihan departmental interclub championships. Playing at the salle de Kérantré on Saturday, September 26, 2026, the club’s newly promoted veteran squad faced tough early tests against established regional opponents.
Veteran Squad Steps Up to Division 1
Entering the season with 80 registered members—including roughly 20 juniors and a dozen veterans—RLP Badminton has positioned its mixed veteran group among the top competitors in the Morbihan department. Having earned promotion into Division 1, the squad hosted the opening day of departmental interclub fixtures featuring six competing teams.
“It exists effectively, veteran championships in badminton, and this season our mixed team, with about ten licensed players, ranks among the best in Morbihan,” club representatives explained. For the opening fixtures, the Pontivy side squared off against Kervignac and the joint team of Pluvigner and Baud.
Tough Openers Against Kervignac and Pluvigner-Baud
The step up to the highest departmental tier brought immediate challenges on the court. Pontivy fell 8-0 to Kervignac in their opening tie and subsequently dropped a 6-2 decision against the Entente Pluvigner-Baud.
“It is heavy-duty,” acknowledged player Hervé Tristan, describing the level of competition. Tristan features in a veteran roster that includes Carine Torcheux, Nadège Le Gargasson, Sylviane Berter, Cécile Plumer, Jérémy Combreas, Yoann Guéguanic, Claude Jacob, and Jean-Marc Mainguet.
Expanded Training and Upcoming Senior Schedule
Beyond the veteran competition, RLP Badminton has broadened its club offerings by opening two extra free-play sessions at the Kerjalotte gymnasium on Sunday mornings and Monday evenings.
The competitive schedule continues to expand as autumn progresses. “Starting in mid-October, our senior competitors will begin their interclub matches,” said co-president Carine Torcheux. Two mixed teams, one women’s team, and one men’s team are registered for the upcoming senior fixtures, with matches scheduled for weekday evenings.
The veteran squad will return to the court on Saturday, November 21, 2026, for the next round of interclub matches, where they are scheduled to face Lanester and Ploemeur.
