Pallacanestro Reggiana opened its Under 19 Eccellenza basketball season with a dominant 101-62 victory over Raggisolaris Academy Faenza at the PalaBigi arena.
PalaBigi Season Opener Sets the Tone
The regional youth matchup began with a competitive opening frame before the hosts found their offensive rhythm. Pallacanestro Reggiana established a 26-16 advantage by the end of the first quarter. Maintaining upward momentum through the middle frames, the squad pushed the score to 48-34 at halftime and expanded the margin to 73-53 by the end of the third period.
Defensive intensity peaked in the final ten minutes at PalaBigi, where the home side limited Faenza to just nine points. Referees Matteo Indrizzi of Modena and Matteo Bertolini of Quattro Castella officiated the opening-night fixture.
Balanced Scoring Leads the Roster
Reggiana displayed a deep and balanced offensive attack, placing every active player on the scoring sheet and landing six athletes in double figures. Manfredotti led all scorers with 16 points, followed by Baldasseroni with 13 and Frashni with 12. Abreu and Tamba each contributed 11 points, while Hadzhyiev added 10.
Rounding out the box score for the victors, Petacchi notched 7 points, Marchi scored 8, Morcavallo finished with 5, and Carboni and Cuoghi chipped in 4 points apiece. Stroppa did not play. For Raggisolaris Academy Faenza, Cheik paced the visiting offense with a game-high 18 points for his side, while Renzi added 12 and Gaina posted 10.
Upcoming Youth Schedule and Fixtures
The convincing result marks a strong start for a Reggiana group playing without the currently recovering Matteo Stroppa and Babacar Samb. The Under 19 squad returns to action on Monday, October 5, traveling to face BSL in San Lazzaro di Savena with tip-off scheduled for 20:30 local time.
Additional youth milestones arrive soon for the club. The Under 17 Eccellenza team opens its campaign on Friday, October 2, hosting International Basket Imola at the Via Cassala gymnasium at 19:45 local time. Meanwhile, the Under 15 side begins home competition on October 10 at 19:00 against Cento.
