Translating an Icon’s Legacy into Recycled Plastic
Nagami, a Spanish design firm recognized for its large-scale robotic 3D printing capabilities, built the trophy using recycled plastics as part of a shared corporate focus on the circular economy.
The physical structure of the award traces a deliberate geometric transition. It begins with an octogonal base shaped to mirror the grip of a tennis racket, then sweeps upward into the contour of the stylized “bull” logo associated with Nadal. Designers sought to translate the physical intensity and precision of the playing style into digital fabrication techniques. By repurposing plastic waste that would otherwise enter the waste stream, the production process aligns with Nagami’s operating philosophy of transforming discarded material into functional, high-value art objects.
