Musa Abra has signed a three-year contract with the Bamberg Baskets, joining the Basketball Bundesliga club from the CATL Basketball Löwen Erfurt, the organization announced. The junior national team guard enters the Franconian club’s system ahead of the upcoming campaign following a productive season in the BARMER ProB.
Contract Terms and ProB Statistics
The young playmaker agreed to a three-year deal with the BMA365 Bamberg Baskets. During the 2025/26 season in the BARMER ProB, Abra appeared in 19 games for the Erfurt club, where he averaged 17.1 points, 3.3 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per contest.
Coaching Perspective on Development
Bamberg head coach Jesús Ramírez addressed the addition of the German junior international, noting his background with national youth selections. “Musa is a talented point guard, what we could already see at his appearances in the jersey of the German junior national team,” Ramírez said in a team statement. “He has developed very well in recent years and we are very happy to have him here with us in Bamberg.”
Integration Plan and Dual-Licensing Group
In the early stages of his tenure, Abra will train within a designated group of dual-license players alongside Benjamin, Jakob, Felix, and Jonas. Ramírez outlined the club’s developmental approach for the incoming guard, emphasizing the adjustment required for the top-tier domestic competition.
“Now at the beginning he will be on the road with Benjamin, Jakob, Felix, and Jonas in the group of dual-license players and then we will see where he develops further and where the journey goes,” Ramírez stated. The head coach pointed out that the jump in physicality, speed, and overall competition level demands a patient approach.
“Like the other young players, he has to train hard and simply cope with the speed and physics in the BBL as well as his logically not yet existing experience at this level,” Ramírez added. The coaching staff plans to utilize Abra during training sessions on the point guard position to evaluate his readiness for game action in the Bundesliga while providing full organizational backing.
Next Steps for the Baskets
Abra is scheduled to join team practices immediately, with preparations continuing ahead of the upcoming BBL schedule. The club will monitor his progress within the dual-license training group to determine his timeline for senior team matchday rosters.
