Abruzzo pickleball player Massimo Gentile secured a national podium finish at the inaugural Coppa Italia Tpra, capturing third place in the mixed doubles Gold bracket alongside his club teammates. The tournament concluded its first national master series on the courts of 159 Pickleball in Cassano Magnago, situated in the Varese province of Lombardy, bringing together top regional qualifiers from across the country.
National Podiums Decided in Cassano Magnago
Representing the Abruzzo region through the Associazione Italiana Pickleball ASD, the Pickleball Tocco squad from Tocco da Casauria battled through the competitive mixed doubles rounds to claim the third-step finish in the Gold bracket. Gentile’s performance at the national tournament crowned an impressive season that also saw him secure the top spot in the Tpra Abruzzo doubles rankings.
The mixed doubles finals brought an official close to the maiden edition of the team-based national tournament. Earlier phases of the competition had already determined the national champions in both the men’s and women’s team brackets. Following preliminary rounds, qualifying clubs were divided into two distinct tiers for the final phase: the Gold bracket and the Silver bracket.
Tournament Results Across Gold and Silver Brackets
In the premier Gold bracket where Pickleball Tocco earned their national podium position, the ultimate title went to Easygrip Bra, competing under the banner of ASD Tennis Club Match Ball. They secured the victory ahead of the runner-up squad Spartan 159 Green, representing Spartan Padel Altobelli. Pickleball Tocco rounded out the top three to capture the bronze-equivalent third-place finish for Abruzzo.
Competition in the Silver bracket saw Tc Alba Pick 2 emerge victorious. Representing ASD Squadre Agonistiche TC Alba, the club advanced through the secondary bracket ahead of second-place finisher Bb Tennis and third-place Prati, capping off a weekend of nationwide team competition in northern Italy.
