Llagostera celebrated its inaugural “Nit de l’Esport” (Sports Night) this past Friday at the Pavelló Josep Mir, honoring the municipality’s top athletes and their achievements throughout the season. The event served as the debut for the “Llagostera es mou” (Llagostera moves) awards, established to recognize local talent across several competitive disciplines.
Top Honors for Figure Skating and Dakar Success
The event’s highest accolades for female athletes were shared by Carla Salguero Puig and Ariadna Font Ferrer. The duo, who hold titles as European champions in show figure skating, received the “Best Female Athlete” award. Their international success also resonated with the public; following a vote involving nearly 1,000 residents, the pair secured the “Popular Vote” award for the most significant sports highlight of the previous season.
In the men’s category, Pau Navarro Ferrer was named the “Best Male Athlete.” Navarro’s recognition follows his performance at the Dakar Rally, where he claimed the championship in the Challenger category, marking one of the most notable results for a Llagostera-based athlete during the term.
Recognition of Local Sports Leadership
Beyond the primary athlete awards, the gala committee highlighted individuals who have provided long-term contributions to local sports. Joan Sàbat Tibau was honored with the “Sports Career” award. The "Special Jury" award was presented to Lluís Vilaplana Finazzi for his contribution to sports in Llagostera.

The ceremony was not limited to the top-tier winners. The evening included a series of acknowledgments for various local athletes and teams who achieved significant results across diverse disciplines throughout the year.
