Mike Gansey, the president of basketball operations for the 76ers, noted that James and Embiid previously shared the floor during the 2024 Paris Olympic Games with Team USA. The success of Philadelphia’s new roster configuration depends heavily on the availability of Joel Embiid. The center has missed significant time over the last three seasons, playing fewer than 40 games in each campaign. During the 2025-26 season, Embiid appeared in 38 games before returning from an appendicectomiy to help the 76ers eliminate Boston in the opening round of the playoffs.
When healthy, Embiid remains a dominant interior presence, averaging 26,9 points and 7,7 rebonds per game last season. Gansey stated that Embiid is currently in good health and motivated to compete alongside James and Brown.
