Hall sidelined ahead of Soldier Field trip
New York Jets starting running back Breece Hall will not practice on Wednesday and faces a weekly evaluation for a quadriceps injury, head coach Aaron Glenn announced.
Fourth-quarter tackle creates multi-million dollar void
The injury occurred early in the fourth quarter during the Jets’ 31-24 loss to the Detroit Lions at Ford Field, when Hall was tackled after running out of bounds. Prior to exiting the game, Hall rushed for 32 yards on 13 carries.
His absence creates an immediate void in the New York offense, coming just months after he signed a three-year contract extension in May worth up to $45.75 million.
Reserves Allen and Davis step into backfield roles
Through the early weeks of the season, Hall had experienced mixed production. He opened the campaign with 102 yards rushing and a touchdown against the Tennessee Titans in Nashville, followed by a 29-yard performance on the ground against the Green Bay Packers in Week 2. With Hall sidelined, reserves Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis are slated to step into the primary running back roles.
Mounting injuries test Jets roster depth
Glenn also provided extensive updates on a mounting list of injuries across the roster ahead of Sunday’s game. Left guard Dylan Parham (knee), wide receiver Adonai Mitchell (finger), tight end Mason Taylor (thumb), and linebacker Kiko Mauigoa (quadriceps) will likewise miss Wednesday’s practice and are being evaluated on a daily basis.

Fitzpatrick nears return as reinforcements loom
On a more positive note for the Jets’ medical staff, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick is expected to participate in a limited capacity during Wednesday’s practice. Fitzpatrick has a chance to play against the Bears after sustaining an groin injury in the opening moments of the season opener. He has missed practice entirely over the last two weeks, with Andre Cisco filling in during his absence.
Additional roster reinforcements could be on the way as tight ends Kenyon Sadiq and Jeremy Ruckert, along with running back and kick returner Kene Nwangwu, are expected to be limited participants in practice. Glenn expressed optimism regarding their availability for Sunday’s contest.
The Jets will continue their weekly practice preparations leading up to Sunday’s kickoff in Chicago, with official injury designations expected to be released as game day approaches.
