U13 Squad Dominates Individual and Team Podiums
Italy’s youth competitors made a significant impact in the under-13 division at the Barcelona competition. Ginevra Lucchetta claimed the silver medal in the individual U13 category, while teammate Eva Gargiulo followed closely to capture the bronze medal. The two young athletes outpaced a competitive international field to earn their spots on the podium. In the U13 team competition, Lucchetta and Gargiulo teamed up with Maia Martucci to secure another bronze medal for the delegation. For Gargiulo and Martucci, the international success highlights the training programs at ASD L’Ardiglione, based in Rocca Sinibalda that develops young talent within the Rieti province.
Giorgio Antonelli Sets New Italian Records in Young Rider Class
Giorgio Antonelli delivered a standout performance in the Young Rider division, finishing fourth overall against a field of more than 50 riders from across Europe. Alongside his strong placement, Antonelli established two new Italian records by improving his previous personal best marks in the Tower90 and Raid234 tracks. The results mark another milestone for the rider representing the Rieti-based stables, who competed tightly at the front of the international classification.
Elite Squad Fights Through 14-Nation Field
In the Élite team competition, the Italian trio of Giorgio Antonelli, Giacomo Grego, and Silvia Fagioli placed fifth overall. The squad completed a demanding, point-by-point battle against national representations from 13 other countries. France, Switzerland, Poland, and Turkey filled the top four positions ahead of the Italian team. The overall campaign was organized and supported under the banner of FITETREC-ANTE.
Next Stop: The Masters Trophy in China
The national Élite squad leaves immediately following the European tournament for China, where they are scheduled to compete next weekend in the Masters Trophy. Giorgio Antonelli, Giacomo Grego, and Alessandro de Santis will make the trip alongside coach Manuele Gualdana to represent Italy in the international showcase.
