Bologna has registered concrete interest in signing Diatta on a free transfer, as reported by the Italian sports daily Corriere dello Sport. The 27-year-old has been without a club since his contract with AS Monaco expired at the end of last season and was not renewed.
Monaco originally signed Diatta from Club Brugge in early 2021 for a reported transfer fee exceeding 16 million euros. During his time in Belgium, the Senegal international established himself as a key player for Club Brugge before making the move to the French Ligue 1.

An acquisition of Diatta could provide much-needed depth and attacking reinforcements for a Bologna squad currently enduring a difficult campaign. The club sits 18th in the Serie A standings as the first team in the relegation zone, having collected just two points from its opening five matches.
