The Badminton Club of Attert recently marked a major milestone by hosting its very first adult tournament, drawing 143 players from 20 different clubs to compete across nearly 200 matches. The event, organized by the club known locally under registration number 235, welcomed participants of all skill levels ranging across multiple provincial and international borders.
Expanding Reach Across Five Regions
Players traveled from the provinces of Liège, Namur, Hainaut, and Luxembourg, alongside competitors from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, creating a broad regional turnout for the debut competition. The club itself serves an active community base with members ranging in age from 5 to 72 years old, reflecting a strong multigenerational presence in the region.
Across the two-hundred contested matches, winners emerged across a series of structured divisions and categories. In the mixed doubles 12 division, Yolann Dossogne and Alice Musty representing BC Martelange took the top spot. The women’s doubles 12 category was won by Laure Biver and Carmen Heinen, competing as out-of-province entrants. In men’s doubles 12, Maxence Filipuzzi and Alexis Gillieaux of ROX Rouvroy claimed victory, while Valentine Grotz of BC Attert and Constance Neu of BC Arlon secured the women’s singles 12 title. Antoine Cieplucha of BC Léglise rounded out the top tier of singles play by winning the men’s singles 12 event.
Division Winners Across Intermediate and Youth-Linked Brackets
Competition continued through lower and intermediate classifications with strong showings from local and visiting clubs. In mixed doubles 11, Fabian Colard of BC Saint-Léger partnered with Nathalie Abbeels of Chestro’Bad for the win. Célia Dabe and Axelle Pinheiro of ROX Rouvroy took home the women’s doubles 11 crown, while Thomas Alves Cunha and Rohit Pandey captured the men’s doubles 11 honors as out-of-province participants.
Singles play in the 11 bracket saw Chiara Lacroix of BC Martelange triumph in women’s singles, and clubmate Ethan Dossogne secure the men’s singles 11 title. In the 9-10 category, Alexandre Samlane and Astrid Hennus (Chestro’Bad) won the mixed doubles, Flavie Jaumain (BC Bastogne) and Rose Levaux (BC Attert) claimed the women’s doubles, and Maxime Hennequin alongside Keny Marchi (ROX Rouvroy) took the men’s doubles. Singles winners in the 9-10 group included Célia Mois of BC Seraing for the women and Thomas Theatre of BC Attert for the men. In the women’s doubles 7-8 category, Elodie Pondant and Lara Pondant of BC Bastogne finished at the top.
Youth Training Camps and Upcoming Schedules
Building on the momentum of the adult tournament, the Attert club maintains an active youth calendar. The organization scheduled its Toussaint training camp from October 26 to October 28, specifically catering to participants aged 6 to 17. Organizer listings show remaining openings for specialized youth sessions, including babybad classes held Mondays from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and mini-bad sessions scheduled for Mondays from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM alongside Wednesdays from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
