Wushu and Weightlifting Drive Latest Medal Surge
Competition on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026, brought significant movement for the Indonesian delegation across multiple venues in Japan. Wushu accounted for five bronze medals overall, including three secured during the Wednesday evening session. Eugenia Diva Widodo claimed third place in the women’s Changquan with a total score of 9.706 points. Seraf Naro Siregar added a bronze in the men’s Changquan by scoring 9.720 points.
In the sanda discipline, three Indonesian fighters advanced to the semifinals before bowing out to secure bronze finishes. Bintang Reindra Nada took bronze in the men’s 60 kg division after a semifinal loss against a representative from Hong Kong. Fereddy Sinaga earned bronze in the men’s 56 kg category following a semifinal defeat to a Vietnamese opponent. Thania Kusumaningtyas rounded out the sanda medals with a bronze in the women’s 60 kg class after falling to an athlete from India in the semifinals.
Weightlifting also bolstered the tally through women’s lifter Luluk Diana Tri Wijayana. Competing in the 49-kilogram division on Wednesday, she hoisted a total of 191 kg—comprising an 88 kg snatch and a 103 kg clean and jerk—to capture the bronze medal.
Mixed Results Across Badminton, Teqball, and Combat Sports
Beyond the wushu and weightlifting podiums, the contingent accumulated bronze and silver accolades across several other sports. The Indonesian women’s badminton team secured a bronze medal after reaching the semifinals on Wednesday, where they fell 0-3 to a strong squad from China.
Teqball provided two medals for the delegation. Sumaya claimed a silver medal in the women’s singles after a hard-fought final against an opponent from Myanmar, while Yoga Ardika Putra collected a bronze medal in the men’s singles. In karate, Cok Istri Agung Sanistyarani earned bronze in the women’s -55kg kumite by defeating a competitor from Singapore, and Leica Al Humaira Lubis secured bronze in the women’s +68kg kumite.
The soft tennis team added to the count with a bronze in the men’s team event after exiting in the semifinal round against host nation Japan. An additional bronze medal came from the mixed martial arts (MMA) competition, rounding out the 13 total medals in the provisional table.
