Anderlecht has appointed Karim Mokeddem as the new head coach of the RSCA Futures following the departure of Jelle Coen after a difficult start to the Challenger Pro League season. Mokeddem, a 52-year-old French manager holding a UEFA Pro Licence, takes charge of the club’s under-23 squad as they look to reverse a winless run in Belgium’s second tier.
A New Direction for the RSCA Futures
The Brussels club confirmed the appointment on Tuesday evening following the dismissal of Jelle Coen. The RSCA Futures struggled through the opening phase of the Challenger Pro League campaign, picking up just one draw and suffering five defeats in their first six matches.
Sporting Director Antoine Sibierski outlined the rationale behind the appointment, emphasizing the unique requirements of managing an under-23 team in a professional environment. According to Sibierski, the club needed a coach with specific credentials and a proven track record in talent development.

“An under-23 coach must meet a very specific profile,” Sibierski said. “With Karim, the RSCA Futures welcome a coach holding a Pro Licence and possessing experience as a head coach at a professional club.”
Coaching Background and French Experience
Mokeddem arrives in Belgium with an extensive resume built across various levels of French football. Over more than a decade as a senior manager, he has worked his way from amateur divisions up to the professional ranks, earning notable recognition for his stints at Lyon-Duchère and Orléans.
Having earned his UEFA Pro Licence in 2019, Mokeddem is recognized for deploying an attacking tactical philosophy. Club officials highlighted his background in youth academies and his history of integrating young prospects into senior setups as key factors in his selection.
“His exacting standards, attention to detail, and professional attitude are genuine assets for our Futures,” Sibierski added. “His ability to develop young players and help them evolve in professional football also weighed heavily in the decision.”
Immediate Schedule and Upcoming Test
The new manager faces a demanding introduction to Belgian football, marking his first coaching role outside of France. His primary objective is to lift the young squad after a catastrophic start to the season in the Challenger Pro League.
Mokeddem’s first fixture in charge will be a home match against KAS Eupen scheduled for Friday, October 9. The assignment presents a formidable challenge, as Eupen has enjoyed a strong start to the season, collecting 12 points from their opening five fixtures.
