Veneto Claims Victory at Nuoro Youth Basketball Tournament

Nuoro recently transformed into the “capital” of youth basketball as the city hosted an intense weekend of competition at the CONI gym on Via Lazio. The event, known as the “Sardinia Regional Trophy — Nuoro Basketball Tournament,” brought together top under-15 (U15) talent from across Italy for a high-stakes showcase of the sport’s next generation.

The tournament culminated in a championship match that saw the Veneto region team secure the title. Representing Northern Italy, Veneto displayed a dominant performance to defeat Lazio with a final score of 89-72. While the final margin suggested a comfortable lead, the pace remained rapid until the closing minutes of the game.

The Podium and Standout Performances

The battle for the bronze medal was a high-scoring affair, with Emilia-Romagna claiming third place. They overpowered Tuscany in a decisive 111-88 victory, further cementing the competitive depth of the regional representatives.

Augusto Grandi, playing for the Umbria-Marche squad, was unanimously named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) by the attending coaches.
