Oskarshamn has refurnished the squad considerably before the transfer deadline on February 15.

Sports director Arsi Piispanen has in recent weeks released defender Isac Jonsson to Mora and forward Lukas Vesterlund to Almtuna, while defender Ludvig Georgsson and forward Wille Johansson have been brought in from Almtuna and Färjestad respectively.

But the club is not satisfied there.

According to Expressen’s information, Oskarshamn has now agreed with Finnish forward Samuel Salonen, 25, ahead of the final sprint of the season.

Sports manager Arsi Piispanen neither wants to confirm nor deny the information, but says:

– It’s a name that has been on the wall, absolutely.

What kind of player is it?

– We think he is a tall forward who is very good on the skates and who likes to take the inside. He is very versatile.

According to sources, only details remain before the deal is complete. If nothing unforeseen happens, the transfer is expected to be official shortly.

Salonen comes closest from Jokerit in the Finnish second league, where this season he accounted for 15 points in 22 games. Last season there were 37 points in 47 games and a whopping +27 in the plus/minus column.

In the last two seasons, he played in Mestis, but before that he played a total of 171 matches in the Finnish top league for teams such as Tappara, Lukko, JYP and Jukurit.
