Brno, Czechia – A growing family in Brno has traded a city-center apartment for a more spacious and family-friendly lifestyle in the Židenice district. The move to a newly constructed 4+kk apartment, complete with a terrace and garden, reflects a desire for more room and a quieter neighborhood, according to the homeowner, Eva.
A Generous Living Space
The apartment boasts nearly 100 square meters of living space, offering a significant upgrade from the family’s previous 3+kk residence. The layout includes a combined kitchen and living area, a bedroom, a children’s room, a home office, two bathrooms, and a large hallway that even accommodates a sauna. The high ceilings and included parking further enhanced the appeal of the property.
Collaborating with TyInteriery
Having had a positive experience with TyInteriery on a previous project, the family once again enlisted their services for the interior design. Tereza Cetlová, representing TyInteriery, emphasized the clients’ thorough preparation and clear understanding of their family’s needs and expectations for the space. “We appreciate that our clients always have highly detailed preparation. They know what they want, they know what rhythms their family has and what expectations they have of the interior,” Cetlová said. The firm found the spaciousness of the new apartment particularly conducive to realizing the clients’ vision.
Clear Vision, Inspired Design
The homeowners translated their ideas into a detailed brief, complete with sketches and numerous screenshots gathered from online sources, particularly Pinterest. “We found inspiration on Pinterest and adapted it to our own space. Compared to our previous interior, which was more industrial in style, we opted for wood and white, as the apartment is on the ground floor and therefore less bright,” explained Eva. This shift in aesthetic aimed to maximize light and create a warmer atmosphere.
Throughout the apartment, a durable and aesthetically pleasing oak floor was installed. The custom-made furniture features a combination of oak veneer, solid wood, and laminate, complemented by countertops made of artificial stone. Cetlová added, “We also complemented the kitchen and living area with atypical metal shelving, with built-in LED lighting in the kitchen’s peninsula.”
A Child’s Playful Kingdom
Special attention was given to the design of the three-year-old son’s bedroom. Taking advantage of the room’s high ceilings, the designers created a unique space with a loft bed that seamlessly transitions into a play area with a suspended net. “The construction, including the anchoring, was custom-designed to ensure strength, stability, and both safety and design. The entire metal structure was woven and braided by a specialized company,” Cetlová explained. This bespoke solution maximized the use of space while creating a fun and engaging environment for the child.
A clever design element is the bookcase, which needed to fit into a narrow space behind a door – just 12 centimeters deep. To accommodate this constraint, the books are arranged vertically and secured with solid oak bars. The son had one simple request: to have the same wallpaper in his new room as he had in the old one, a detail that added a personal touch to the design.
The Living Room: A Gathering Place
The living room’s bookcase also features a unique design element. Rather than traditional right-angle shelving, the supports are slightly angled, creating a visually fascinating focal point. “The supports are slightly angled, which creates an interesting point of the living area,” Cetlová described. This space has become the heart of the home, where the family spends most of their time together – cooking, dining, playing games, and watching movies. “It’s the coziest place in the apartment, where we all approach together,” the homeowners shared.

This Brno family’s new apartment demonstrates a thoughtful blend of functionality, style, and personal touches, creating a comfortable and inviting home for years to come. The Židenice district, with its lower-density housing and proximity to amenities, provides an ideal setting for a growing family seeking a balance between city living and a more relaxed lifestyle.
The Kaufland Židenice shopping center is located nearby at Bubeníčkova 4405/1, 615 00 Brno-Židenice, Czechia, and offers an electric vehicle charging station, according to Plugshare (Plugshare). This is a small detail, but indicative of the modern amenities available in the area.
Next, TyInteriery will be showcasing their latest projects at the upcoming design fair in Prague, scheduled for March 15-17, 2026. What are your thoughts on this modern apartment design? Share your comments below!
