Estillac Badminton Club Hosts Departmental Championships | Lot-et-Garonne News

For the first time in its history, the Estillac-based badminton club, Les Fous du Volant, recently hosted the Lot-et-Garonne Departmental Youth & Veterans Badminton Championships. Over two days, the Colette Bezolles multi-activity hall was filled with the sounds of shuttlecocks being struck, the cheers of supporters and the applause of the audience. Nearly 300 matches took place over the weekend, encompassing singles, doubles, and mixed doubles play, all characterized by sportsmanship, a positive atmosphere, and camaraderie.

A Thriving Club with Over 50 Members

A refreshment stand was operated throughout the weekend by members of the Estillac club, providing sustenance for all the athletes and helping them perform at their best. Some members even proudly represented the community by actively participating in the event. More than 100 players from across the Lot-et-Garonne region competed each day, vying for the title of departmental champion in their respective categories.

Les Fous du Volant boasts a membership of over 50 individuals who gather on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and on Sundays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, to enjoy the sport in a relaxed and friendly environment. “You can always join us and hit some shuttlecocks with us; we will welcome you with pleasure and you will quickly be integrated. The license fee is €85,” explained Romain Reignier-Primet, a member of the Estillac club.
