It is a Regional 1 match that the Marne prefecture has decided to secure. In order to avoid potential excesses, measures were taken before the meeting, Sunday February 8, 2026, between Cormontreuil and Sedan at 2:30 p.m.

The Greens and Reds, who will be escorted by the police to the Serge-Lécriner stadium, will also be prohibited from driving or parking in town all day. A decision which comes a week after the attack on a bar in Sedan by Rémois.

If this match is so secure, it is because tensions have already arisen between the supporters of the two clubs. For many years, they “maintain a rivalry and an exacerbated mutual hatred which has led to numerous violent incidents in the past”, explains the prefect in a press release dated February 6.

In August 2024, in Épernay, among the 250 Sedannais who came to support their players, 80 ultras were present, the prefecture recorded. During this meeting, the police had to intervene to “bring calm” after members of the small Reims hooligan group “Mes Os” found themselves face to face with around sixty Sedan ultras from Young Boys.

Even more recently, on January 31, 2026, “elements at risk from Reims, supported by counterparts from the Paris region, carried out violent action in Sedan”reports the prefecture. That evening, a bar located in the center of Sedan was attacked by around thirty hooded people in the evening. Beyond the material damage, fortunately no injuries were reported.

“It’s everyone’s safety above all else”underlines Franck Mazuel, sports director of the Cormontreuil club. He continues: “Today every event must be anticipated, we must above all guarantee security. It’s a shame because the party is no longer one. We have been tense for more than a week, we should be happy, we are victims of this event.”

“We are a small club from Cormontreuil, what we want is to see our players, our volunteers, the spectators smile… The party is already ruined. The fundamentals of football have disappeared”regrets Franck Mazuel. But for him, the worst is “that we have to pay for our security. We are the ones who will pay today’s costs. For this match alone, it’s between 3,000 and 4,000 euros for the club”, he assures. “We will have to give ourselves the means to pay for this excess which does not come from us. It is the price to pay to have an atmosphere in the club”, concludes the sports director.

Around 500 spectators should attend the meeting between Cormontreuil and Sedan. Among them, around a hundred Sédanais, including around 20 ultras, according to information collected from the prefecture, should be present.
