Saturday, February 28th: A Day of Diverse Activities
The weekend kicks off with options for both indoor and outdoor enthusiasts. Central Oregon Badminton welcomes players of all abilities to Bend Hoops, located at 1307 NE First Street, for an evening of instruction and friendly competition. Racquets and birdies are provided, making it accessible for newcomers, with sessions running from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The cost is $10, and children under 13 participate free of charge.
For those seeking a more adventurous challenge, Free Spirit Yoga + Ninja + Play hosts a “Ninja Night” from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Experienced staff will oversee team-building games and timed races through the obstacle course, providing a fun and engaging experience. Participation is $42.
Beyond the gym, Riverbend Park is the site of the Polar Plunge & 5K, a fundraising event supporting Special Olympics Oregon (SOOR). Participants can choose to brave the cold waters with a plunge, complete the 5K run, or do both. The event runs from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a fundraising requirement of $60.
As dusk settles, Mt. Sunday focuses on youth athleticism with the Kids Ninja Warrior Competition — UNAA Area Qualifier at Free Spirit Yoga + Ninja + Play. Young athletes will test their skills, speed, and agility on a challenging obstacle course, with a 45-minute open gym warm-up preceding the competition. The event runs from 12:30 PM to 7:00 PM, with an entry fee of $49.
Mid-Week Fun at Hoodoo Ski & Recreation (March 4th – 6th)
Hoodoo Ski & Recreation in Sisters provides a series of themed days throughout the week. On Wednesday, March 4th, active duty and veteran military personnel and their dependents can take advantage of a 2-for-1 lift ticket offer with valid military ID. Also on Wednesdays, skiers and snowboarders who show up in a onesie receive discounted lift tickets. A Kids Ninja After-School Camp is also offered on Wednesdays from 1:15-3:45 p.m. For $142 per month, focusing on coordination, balance, speed, and strength.
Thursday, March 5th, brings “Thrifty Thursdays” with $39 lift tickets. And the week concludes on Friday, March 6th, with “Friday Night Lights” at Hoodoo, with details on the weekly lineup available on their social media channels.
