The hockey players of Bratislava Slovan beat Žilina 2:1 in the 39th round of the Tipsport League on Friday after separate raids. In the 12th series, Samuel Takáč decided their fourth victory in a row.
Coach Brad Tapper’s team succeeded against Milan Bartovič’s team in the fifth match of the season, but did not score fully for the first time.
The Whites still have an eight-point lead over Nitra at the top of the table.
Liptovský Mikuláš ended a streak of five losses when they inflicted an 8:1 debacle on home ice to Banská Bystrica, who lost the second game in a row. Liptáci laid the foundation for success in the first period, which they dominated 4:0.
Zvolen triumphed in Košice 5:0 and claimed his fifth victory in a row, after which he secured the current 8th place in the table. Košice lost the fourth game out of the past five and continue to figure in the 5th place. Zvolena goalkeeper Pavel Kantor picked up his third clean sheet of the season and 12th in the Slovak extra league.
With the score 0:4, Jakub Husár got into the Košice goal, for whom it was the first match in the Slovak extra league. At the age of 16 years and 154 days, he became the youngest goalkeeper in the highest Slovak competition. By one day, he surpassed Samuel Hlavaj’s previous record.
The second team Nitra won in Spišská Nová Ves 3:2 after extra time and recorded their third triumph in a row. Prešov won on the Michaloviec ice 3:1, but despite gaining three points, it remained in the last place of the table. Poprad won on the ice of Dukla Trenčín 3:1. He secured sixth place in the table, Trenčani are in ninth place.
