SBS Ostrava Resistance: Rep. Czech Update – Postup.fr

Kp Brno easily wins at home © zbl.basketball

With four matches on the program the weekend was not very plentiful and yet there were some great performances.

Matches played on 01/21:

SBS Ostrava Bk Trutnov 95-72

The fight for second place rages on and SBS Ostrava did not miss the opportunity to regain their possession during this late match. From the start of the match, the local players are diligent and determined. The duo Iva BELOSEVIC (14 points, 22 rating) – OLIANA Squires (17 points) is untenable and a first gap already exists after 10 minutes (25-12). Matehya BRYANT (17 points) responded from the start of the second quarter and stabilized the gap at around ten points (44-33 at the break). The recovery unfortunately will be fatal to the visitors who crumble against the local address (60% at 2 points) but also against the better management of the rebound (45 taken to 36). The result is known in the 30th minute (+23) and the last quarter will in no way change the appearance of the match. Here is the reaction of Michaela Drtilová, assistant coach of SBŠ Ostrava : “We started the match very well and led 10-0. Unfortunately, we then slowed down, our opponents stayed in the game and we sent them to the free throw line. Fortunately, after half-time we found our rhythm, played quickly and built a comfortable gap which we maintained until the final whistle. »

Matches played on 01/24:

Usk Prague Basketball Ostrava 127-36
TJ Socol Hradec Kralove SBS Ostrava 68-70

Two matches on the program for Saturday 24, and the journey continues for USK Prague which once again annihilates its opponent of the day (+91). Already 30 points ahead after ten minutes (34-4), it was obvious that the afternoon would be long for the bottom of the standings. Emese HOF (17 points, 37 evaluation) reigned over the game, well supported by Pauline ASTIER (7 passes in 16 minutes). Janelle SALAUN scores 11 points in less than 15 minutes and Valérianne AYAYI (9 points in 18 minutes). The two teams do not play in the same category and the locals are ready to do battle in the Euroleague quickly, as confirmed Dušan Medvecký, fair play coach of Ostrava Basket : “We didn’t come to get a result, but to play to our full potential and get a score of 70. We didn’t achieve that, but at least all the players participated. USK is a Euroleague team and I wish them good luck for their match against Schia; I wish them victory and a great season. »

The other meeting was intense and SBS Ostrava scored its second victory of the week at the last minute. The start of the match is intense, close, and pleasant to watch (20-21 in the 10th). Eliska HALOVA (16 points) puts his nose to the window and with better management of hot balls, the locals achieve a first break before the break (43-32). The interval will unfortunately cut the legs of the coach players Roman PTACKOVA and aggression changes sides. OLIANA squires, score 18 points and well helped by the duo Michael VACKOVAIva BELOSEVIC (9 rebounds each), his team is getting closer little by little. We feel that the current series of 6 defeats weighs on the local heads and hands and the last possessions are poorly managed. Victory goes to the team with the most confidence and therefore success. Iveta Raškovácoach of SBŠ Ostrava: “We expected it would not be easy. The level is different here, the game is very intense and we had to show self-sacrifice. Around the fifteenth minute we completely lost rhythm and started playing individually. The Hradec Králové players knew how to exploit their shooting skills from afar and quickly left us behind. At half-time we said to ourselves that we still had twenty minutes left and I must say that in the last quarter of an hour we defended very well, which was decisive. »

Matches played on 01/25:

Zabiny Brno Slavic woman 96-47
Dsk Brandys Bk Trutnov 71-78
Valosun KP Brno Leopard Chomutov 82-62

Zabiny Brno continue to cling to their dream of finishing second with an easy home victory against the penultimate side. The domination of the locals is total (57 shots to 30, 6 lost balls against 17 and a much higher shooting percentage) and at half-time the gap is crippling (53-19). Stephanie JONES (25 points, 37 rating) is easily helped by the 14 rebounds of Kenndy BROWN. The mano a mano continues with SBS Ostrava for second place.

For its part, BK Trutnov will win on the 5th field and show that the recent adjustments in its squad are bearing fruit. the start of the match is one-sided, the visitors are everywhere on the pitch and dominate the timid locals (17-26). Upset, Marie ZILOVA et Katerina Suchanova (12 points each) wake up their team and stay in the race at the break (37-43). But Meghan BOYD is definitely a great scorer (29 points) and she will drive home the point with every possibility of a comeback. Kiara BELL shows its power in the restrictive zone (16 points) and despite a return to 3 points from the locals, the visitors will pocket their third victory in 4 matches.

The podium is still far away but to hope to get closer, Kp Brno had no choice but to win at home. It’s done, against the 6th in the ranking. The start of the match is balanced, Lucie SVATONOVA et Jessica HIBALOVA (15 points each) allow the locals to take control of the match, but without creating a real gap (20-15, 10ᵉ). Monika FUCIKOVA is successful (18 points) but we feel that little by little the visitors are at the breaking point (-14 at the break). The third quarter saw the two teams playing evenly, and at the start of the last quarter anything could still happen. The last quarter will be for the locals, thanks in particular to a Eliska ZILOVA (29 rating) in the oven and in the mill. This success allows us to bounce back after last week’s defeat and maintain hope. Marcela Krämer, KP trainer : “The girls learned their lessons from the Trutnov match: they have to fight for the rebound. They were really keen to take revenge after the defeat. We are delighted that the defensive work carried out all week has paid off. »
