Eight NBA teams have already played preseason matches in the Emirati capital.

Future scenarios and sovereign investments
The extension of the partnership is part of a broader context of expansion of the NBA internationally. Commissioner Adam Silver recently opened up to the possibility that sovereign investments in the NBA Europe project could influence the guidelines for the North American league, where sovereign funds currently can own a maximum of 20% of the franchises.
The only significant absence on the European scene will be Barcelona, after Barcelona Bàsquet ratified a ten-year agreement to remain in the EuroLeague until the 2036/37 season, thus renouncing participation in the new NBA Europe competition.
