Mike Tomlin, one of the longest-tenured coaches in the NFL, has announced his resignation from the Pittsburgh Steelers after 19 seasons. He started in 2007, becoming one of the youngest coaches to win a Super Bowl at age 36, and the Steelers won Super Bowl XLIII in 2009.
Tomlin led the team to 13 playoff appearances and eight AFC North titles. But his best performances came early on, with his last playoff win coming in 2017.
“Coaching in Pittsburgh is like no other, and I will always be proud to have been the manager of this team. “It will,” said the 53-year-old coach. This organization has been a big part of my life for many years, and it has been an absolute honor to lead this team..”
Surprisingly, since their founding in 1969, the Pittsburgh Steelers have hired only three managers: Chuck Noll, Bill Cowher, and Tomlin.
