Former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel has reportedly decided to join California to become the next offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers.
Adam Schefter reports that unless there is a turnaround, he will be at the head of Jim Harbaugh’s attack and will guide quarterback Justin Herbert.
The Chargers lost in the first round of the playoffs this season to the New England Patriots.
Earlier in the evening, McDaniel informed the Browns that he was withdrawing from the process of hiring a new head coach, according to tipster Tom Pelissero.
As coach of the Dolphins, McDaniel went 35-33 in four seasons. Under McDaniel, Miami had its best season in 2023, going 11-6.
Prior to joining the Dolphins, McDaniel worked for the Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, Washington Redskins, Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers, among others.
With the Niners, he served as ground game coordinator for four seasons and served as offensive coordinator for another campaign.
