Bola.net – Manchester United began to move quickly to prepare emergency plans after sacking Ruben Amorim. The Red Devils management is targeting the appointment of an interim head coach by early next week, while considering a number of names who are considered capable of stabilizing the team until the end of the season.
Ruben Amorim was officially dismissed less than 24 hours after the 1-1 draw against Leeds United at Elland Road last Sunday. This match was not free from sharp scrutiny, especially due to the Portuguese coach’s controversial statement in the pre-match press conference.
Amorim only lasted around 14 months after being appointed to replace Erik ten Hag by Old Trafford officials.

Manchester United chose the option of an interim coach until the summer, before determining Amorim’s permanent replacement. Several old names closely associated with the club have emerged again, including Michael Carrick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Solskjaer, who was fired in November 2021, is said to have held direct talks with Manchester United management last Saturday. Meanwhile, Carrick, who was previously part of Solskjaer’s coaching staff, has also been invited to discussions by the club regarding the possibility of a short-term role.

According to an ESPN report, a decision regarding the interim coach is expected to be taken early next week. Apart from Solskjaer and Carrick, the name Ruud van Nistelrooy is also on the candidates’ radar. However, sources close to the former Dutch striker said that Van Nistelrooy felt his position was still at the bottom of the priority list.
Solskjaer is said to be the strongest candidate, considering his experience in serving as interim coach before being appointed permanently. However, Solskjaer’s potential return is not without obstacles.
One of the issues being considered is the formation of the coaching staff, considering that previously he was supported by Carrick, Mike Phelan and Kieran McKenna, who now serves as manager of Ipswich Town.

In the midst of this dynamic, Darren Fletcher cannot be ruled out either. The former Manchester United midfielder has left a positive impression since taking over temporarily after Amorim left.
Fletcher led the team in their 2-2 draw against Burnley in midweek, and will again be on the sidelines when Manchester United host Brighton in the FA Cup third round this Sunday.
