Kana: Goalkeeper & Rising Stars

During the winter break, the top clubs from the Jupiler Pro League prepare in peace for the second part of the season, with the Play-Offs as the highlight. Traditionally, some youngsters are also allowed to prove themselves during the internship. VoetbalPrimeur.be runs through those who could break through in 2026. In this episode: four talents from RSC Anderlecht who get a taste of the big work.

Mattis Seghers

Only sixteen years old and a boy for whom it all has yet to begin. Seghers’ name is therefore probably the most surprising in the selection that Besnik Hasi has brought to Jerez de la Frontera. Certainly don’t expect him to be the main force’s main force this season purple-white. On the contrary, Seghers is still waiting for his first minutes at the RSCA Futures and has only appeared twice for the U18s.

In principle, the young goalkeeper is still with the U17. He also belongs to that category with the national team. In September he played his first international match, which was lost 1-0 against Denmark. Yet it is no coincidence that Seghers is able to experience the internship. First of all, as a goalkeeper it might be a little easier. However, it is mainly thanks to the presence of Silvio Proto. Since the club hero returned to Anderlecht, he has been given the task of ensuring the flow under the cross member. Apparently Proto sees potential in Seghers.

Basile Vroninks

Getting an opportunity early can also be a poisoned gift. This Vroninks was able to experience that. At the very beginning of the season, Besnik Hasi fielded him several times, including in that dramatically lost away match at BK Häcken. Vroninks went under because of that. It immediately meant the end of his playing chances. The right back was allowed to prove himself again among the promises.

However, things did not go smoothly due to a nasty injury. As a result, he has not made more than eight appearances for the Futures so far. However, in recent weeks Vroninks has been fit again, just in time to take the plane to southern Spain. The blond, nineteen-year-old right back relies mainly on great running ability and is calm on the ball. Due to Ilay Camara’s injury, new opportunities may lie ahead.

Joshua Nga Kana

Also a Kana, but not related. However, Marco’s namesake shares the same flair. After all, sixteen-year-old Kana also frolics elegantly across the field. The youngster does that as an attacking midfielder.

His ball skills are high, but Kana can also use his body. That combination should allow him to make minutes for the main team sometime in 2026. He ended last year with his very first selection, although he remained on the bench the entire time against Sporting Charleroi. Provided a good internship, a debut might be possible soon…

Anas Tajaouart

Another talent who is eagerly awaiting his moment of glory. Well, in October Tajaouart already experienced an adventure he will never forget. With the Moroccan U20 he was crowned world champion. That performance was also extensively praised at Anderlecht. Since then, it has brought him no closer to more appearances for the first team.

For the time being, there is no regularity in the Futures. This of course has to do with his World Cup participation, which meant that Tajaouart had to miss part of the first round. Some physical ailments also set him back. The midfielder, who is praised for his technique, insight and courage, is regularly captain. Leadership is therefore also in his genes. Wondering if he will also dare to coach during the winter internship!

In episode 23 of the second season of Tijd voor Voetbal, the penalty phase in KRC Genk – Club Brugge, the difficult match of RSC Anderlecht is discussed and STVV continues to convince in the JPL. That and much more in Time for Football.
