Edition no. presented. 48 of the traditional international cross-country race in Trentino: in the men’s race Vecchi, third last year, and among the women at the start the Rwandan Mukandanga

Il International Cross of Vallagarina is ready to experience its 48th edition on Sunday. The event that has become a classic of cross-country running is approaching its half-century mark Villa Lagarina (Trento) announces African protagonists in the competition, but not only, with ten nations represented. Among the men, Enrico Vecchi (Atl. Casone Noceto), third last year, the Italian mountain running champion Isacco Costa (La Recastello Radici Group) and Marco Fontana Granotto (Atl. Insieme Verona), already tricolor in the specialty, are expected, in a cast that includes the Spaniard Younès Kniya and the Portuguese Miguel Borges as well as Hassan Chani (Bahrain) and the Burundian Léonce Bukuru. Among the women, we note the names of the Rwandan Clementine Mukandanga and the British Emily Collinge, a prominent face especially in mountain running, but there will also be the Portuguese Monica Silva, the Czech Anna Malkova who returns after third place last season, the host Linda Palumbo (Us Quercia Dao Conad) and the Italian junior champion Licia Ferrari (Valchiese).

This time we run on a route that is partly different from the traditional one, due to an unsafe boulder which forced a section of the circuit to be delimited, but always with start and finish in the Villa Lagarina sports centre. The event organized by Us Quercia Dao Conad was presented in the hall of the Marzadro Distillery in Nogaredo, a few hundred meters from the competition venue, in the presence, among others, of the provincial councilor for development Achille Spinelli and the mayor of Villa Lagarina Julka Giordani. The program will open on Sunday morning at 11am with the master categories, then the youth categories which will preview the international challenges in the afternoon: women in the 5.2km distance at 2.20pm and men in the 8.2km race at 2.55pm. Delayed broadcast planned on sportoutdoor.tv. As per tradition, the Vallagarina International Cross will be preceded on Saturday by a technical conference with a report by Gaspare Pavei on the theme “New trends and old certainties in long-distance running”.
