Roger Federer is a big fan of the rivalry between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. «It’s great. “They play incredibly good tennis,” enthused the Basel native at a media conference in the run-up to the Australian Open.
«We are all here to see what happens this time. “The two are of course the favorites,” said Federer and also looked back on the epic final between the two dominators in Paris last year.
«The French Open final was incredible. “The sports world stopped for a moment – one of the biggest matches in our sport,” he said.
Federer’s best memory: Final 2017
Federer returned to the Melbourne facility this year for the first time since retiring. The six-time Australian Open champion is set to receive a delayed official farewell.
Federer also revealed his fondest memory from Melbourne: the 2017 final, when he won his fifth title at the Australian Open against Rafael Nadal, only seeded 17th.
