Falcao: Millionaires’ Support – AS Colombia

Millonarios is tested against two giants of South American football. Shortly after starting the BetPlay 2026-I League, the Ambassador team traveled to the south of the continent to face, in preseason friendlies, against River Plate and Boca Juniors. The first duel, against Marcelo Gallardo’s team, takes place this Sunday in Uruguay.

Despite the expectations generated after his signing, Azul faced the match against River without Radamel Falcao García. The striker, a brand new reinforcement for this season, has hardly trained since his return to the club (he joined the training camp last Thursday) and, as he continues his training after six months of inactivity, it was logical that he did not add minutes in the first friendly.

That was confirmed once Millonarios announced the lineup. El Tigre did not even appear among the substitutes. Leonardo Castro and Carlos Darwin Quintero were the chosen forwards by Hernán Torres to complete the starting roster in a 5-3-2 structure.

Falcao, however, wore the club’s clothing and accompanied the team to the Gran Parque Central stadium in Montevideo. In the preview, the attacker was seen share with Marcelo Gallardo, River coach, and Juan Fernando Quintero. The Argentine club itself, where Radamel began his career, published the image.

It is worth mentioning that in River they were starters the two Colombians, Juanfer Quintero and Kevin Castaño. This is also the first preseason friendly for Gallardo’s team, which hopes to reverse the bad image it left in 2025.
