The Dallas Mavericks will once again have to do without their superstar Anthony Davis for a longer period of time in the NBA professional basketball league. As the Mavs announced on Friday (local time), the American suffered a ligament injury in his left hand. It initially remained unclear whether the ten-time all-star would have to undergo an operation.
Sea ESPN An operation could put Davis out of action for several months and even mean the end of the season, otherwise he would “only” have to take a break for six weeks. The 32-year-old is currently obtaining “several medical reports,” the official statement said.
Davis kept coming out injured
Davis was injured on Thursday in a 114:116 win at the Utah Jazz just under three minutes before the end of the game while making a move to the basket in a duel with Lauri Markkanen. The center initially continued playing, but a little later had to go into the locker room for treatment during a timeout.
Since the spectacular trade in February 2025, when Davis came to Dallas from the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Luca Doncic, the former NBA champion has repeatedly struggled with injuries. He only played 29 of 71 games for the Texans. This season, Davis also missed a total of 18 games in November and December due to calf problems and an adductor injury. Manager Nico Harrison, who brought him in, was sacked in November.
